The Costa Blanca is well known for tourism. The coast was made up of small fishing villages before the tourism boom. Some have restricted development and retained their charms, whilst others have been well developed with many Costa Blanca Villas and Costa Blanca Apartments.
The area has over 100km of sandy beaches and rocky coves. The north is mountainous with cliffs and coves with fine sand and pebbled beaches and other parts are green and lush. To the south there are mainly flat fine sand beaches. There are palm trees, salt lakes and is much drier. The Costa Blanca ranges from tiny rural villages to cosmopolitan resorts, such as Benidorm.
The north has a climate the likes of which is similar to California, South Africa and Southern Australia. In August it's 25c and in January 12c with an average of 320 sunny days per year. It is warmer and drier than Costa Brava to the north in winter and not as hot and humid as Costa del Sol to the south, in summer. The World Health Organisation reports that’s its one of best climates in the world for arthritis and the people noticed relief within days of staying there. There are nearly same amount of sunshine in winter as summer.
The beaches range from long flat fine sandy beaches, pebbled beaches and coves. Most reach the Blue flag standard. Calpe's Levante beach is the most famous. It's 2km long, 40m wide with fine sand. There is the Penon de Ifach with it's promenade lined with restaurants and beach bars. Calpe's other beach Arenal-Bol is 1.2km and is separated from it's other beach by the Penon de Ifach. Moraira has a 350m sandy beach also small village of Portet has a sand bay lined with beach houses plus restaurants. Javea has a pebbles seafront and El Arenal beach with it's mild gradient. The wild open beaches of Denia which stretch from the town towards Oliva, Gandia and Curara dotted with Valencia, Calpe, Alicante, Altean beaches villas, new developments, beach bars, camp sites and sand dunes.
Calpe has the spectacular towering Rock of Ifach which is the symbol of Costa Blanca, which splits it's 2 beaches. There is Sailing, scuba diving, hiking, climbing, tennis, bowling and also golf courses nearby. Modern buildings plus wide avenues blend well in with the ancient fishing village where there are seafood restaurants, tapas bars and more wide ranging restaurants.
The inland date palm forest of Elche in the Sierra Aitana mountains. The mountains are covered by snow in winter at times. You can also visit the Giraffes, Elephants, Lions, Tigers and many other species in the Aitana safari park.
There is also the Calpe Las salinas salt lake with its year round population of Flamingos then follow coast road round Benissa coastline to Moraira which is among the Teulada veneyards and its Moscatel grapes.
Valencia has constructed the largest Science theme park and aquarium in Europe, which is called Citutat de les Artes i les Ciencies with many natural habitats such as Red sea, the Arctic with penguins, Mangrove Swamps with it's fish and the Atlantic. You can walk through a glass tunnel, underwater to view the fish. Also there is the Tierra Mitica Ancient Civilizations theme park outside Benidorm. There are some of the best rides in Europe. Plus a boat trip where you can visit Greece, Iberia, and Rome among others. There is Journey of Odyseus - pistol to shoot down the sirens. Mysteries of Ancient Egypt and Bull run train and a wide range of international restaurants.

This is quite good. I too use to stay in the Holidays Costa Blanca , which is an excellent place to retire. Thanks for sharing.
